Privacy policy
Introduction
We are committed to protecting your privacy and do not pass on any information to outside parties except to fulfil services as detailed in this policy.
This policy explains how Indian Ocean (Bournemouth) Ltd. and Blue Water Web Ltd., acting on our behalf, handle information when you use https://www.indianoceanrestaurant.co.uk. Marketing preferences are chosen separately when you sign up; visiting the site does not sign you up for marketing.
What data we collect
We will collect and process the following data about you:
Information you submit
When you submit an enquiry or join our loyalty / marketing list, we may ask for your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and (optionally) birthday. You choose whether to receive offers by email and/or SMS.
Information we collect
When you visit the site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”
Google Analytics runs automatically to measure visits, page views and selected button clicks so we can improve the website. It uses cookies containing browser identifiers, which can recognise a returning browser. This is pseudonymous information, not fully anonymous data. We do not send names, email addresses, telephone numbers or signup form details to Google Analytics. Advertising storage, Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled.
You can turn Google Analytics off using the website statistics notice or “Analytics settings” in the footer. We remember your choice in this browser and honour previous rejections. Turning it off stops future GA4 collection and removes its analytics cookies; it does not delete information already collected. Email and SMS offers require separate opt-ins on the signup form.
Why we need this data and what do we do with it?
We use information held about you in the following ways:
Information you submit
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to enquiries;
- Manage our loyalty / marketing list and, when in line with the preferences you have shared with us, send birthday treats, offers, and related updates by email or SMS; and
- When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.
Information we collect
We will use this information:
- To improve our site to ensure that content is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer;
- To allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so;
- As part of our efforts to keep our site safe and secure; and
- To make suggestions and recommendations to you and other users of our site about goods or services that may interest you or them.
Service providers
We use trusted processors to run the site and related services. They only process data on our instructions and for the purposes described in this policy:
- Hosting & analytics infrastructure — Vercel (website hosting and aggregate website statistics), Google Tag Manager to manage measurement tags, and Google Analytics for the website measurement described above unless you turn it off;
- Subscriber database — Neon (Postgres) stores loyalty / marketing list details you submit;
- Email — Postmark sends transactional welcome messages when you join the list;
- SMS — Twilio may send marketing texts only when you have provided a mobile number and consented to SMS;
- Online ordering & reservations — GloriaFood / Oracle Micros powers takeaway orders and table bookings. When you order or book online, that provider processes the details you enter according to their own privacy terms.
How long we will hold the information
We will hold the information for the processing of any information required for any contract we have with you and for a reasonable period thereafter.
We will review the information held on a periodic basis and delete information which we assess will no longer be required for any future dealings between you and us. You can ask us to remove you from the marketing list at any time using the contact details below.
How do we protect your customer information?
Under UK data protection law, we follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we are able to disclose sensitive information to you.
Will we disclose personal information to outside parties?
We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others.
We will only disclose your personal information to outside parties:
- To help us use your personal information, as described above — including the service providers listed in this policy. For Google Analytics, you can read more about how Google uses information here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/. You can also opt out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout; and
- If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation.
Your data rights
You have the right to request access, modification or deletion of the information held about you under law. Please direct any data queries to info+privacy@tiien.co.uk.
Changes to our privacy policy
Any changes we make to our privacy policy in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by e-mail.
Contacts
Questions, comments and requests regarding this privacy policy are welcomed and should be addressed to info+privacy@tiien.co.uk.
Cookies and browser storage
We store your theme and analytics preferences in your browser. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, including _ga and cookies beginning _ga_, to distinguish browsers and measure visits. These run automatically unless you turn statistics off. You can change that choice at any time using “Analytics settings” in the footer. Turning Google Analytics off does not prevent you from using the website.
Online ordering and reservations are provided by GloriaFood / Oracle Micros and may use their own cookies when you open those services. Their privacy information applies to the details you provide there.
Your browser also lets you restrict or delete cookies. Deleting browser storage clears your saved preferences, so you may need to set them again on your next visit. For instructions, visit allaboutcookies.org.
